Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Dev Confirms You Won’t Need To Have Played FFVII Remake To Enjoy The Game

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth developer Square Enix has taken to Twitter again to share yet another update on the game, this time confirming you won’t need to have played Final Fantasy VII Remake to enjoy the upcoming PS5 sequel.

Motomu Toriyama, the co-director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, revealed the following in response to the question, ‘Do I need to play Final Fantasy VII Remake to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?’

No – we have made preparations so that players who did not get a chance to play the first game can fully enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Square Enix previously shared a number of updates on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Twitter, including the fact development is progressing smoothly (with a release date yet to be nailed down), and that players will be able to explore the game world with a ‘huge degree of freedom.’

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slated for release in Winter 2023 for PS5.
