Game ads platform iion secures seed capital to fuel global expansion

The seed capital will enhance iion’s product roadmap, focusing on AI and ML automation for advertising in the gaming ecosystem

Video games monetisation and advertising platform iion has completed its seed funding round led by VC firm TEN13 with participation from co-investors Archangel Ventures and PixCapital.

This seed capital will expand iion’s team, accelerate market penetration in the US and EU, and boost game publisher efforts in China. It will also enhance iion’s product roadmap, focusing on AI and ML automation for advertising in the gaming ecosystem.

The gaming ads platform has also been in collaboration with brands such as Lego, KFC, and L’Oreal, and has existing partnerships with other independent media agencies.

The start of a new chapter

Sanjaya Molligoda, iion co-founder says: “Despite gaming having a large global and highly attentive audience of over 3.4 billion, brands have been slow to enter the space as there was no easy way to activate gaming campaigns in one place.”

According to the Molligoda in a LinkedIn post, iion recognises the need for a solution that addresses common industry challenges through a self-serve game ad platform. “This is not an overnight success story by far…its just the beginning of our next chapter!” he adds.

“I’m proud to have built the business with no funding for the last 5 years to what it is now, operating globally with a diverse team of 50+ across 12 locations and with 90% plus CAGR every year,” Molligoda concludes.

The unified gaming ads platform has also welcomed new advisors including Ionut Ciobotaru, former co-CEO of Verve Group and CPO at MGI, and Pieter Kooyman, CEO of Half Moon Studios and former Chief Advertising Officer at Miniclip SA.
