Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sold more than 11 million copies since the game launched in October 2023.
These new numbers come from Sony’s recent business meeting segment with investors, where it presented the success of Insomniac’s latest web-slinging adventure.
It’s a significant milestone for the game to hit, especially as a single-player linear action-adventure game that is on a console that millions of PlayStation players still haven’t migrated to.
In fact when you look at Sony’s recent report that the PS5 has shipped 59.3 million units worldwide since it launched, that Spider-Man 2 has sold over 11 million copies means that at least 1/6 of all PS5 owners bought Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Significant as this milestone is, it can’t help but be overshadowed by Helldivers 2, which has already surpassed 12 million copies sold since it launched at the beginning of February 2024.
The two aren’t directly comparable considering that Helldivers 2 is a multiplayer game and also available on PC as well as PS5, but the way the slides celebrating each of these sales milestones are presented feels like it puts a damper on Spider-Man 2’s impressive accomplishment.
