Gotta say for the price point I was pleasantly surprised by this nice entry into the RTS field.

While at times the controls can feel awkward and the interface could use a little more QOL (killing a build in your queue, for example) it more than makes up for it in the simplicity of the “protect” option, where you can send ships/your fleet to orbit a station or asteroid you’re mining with a simple touch. Works great to offer a nice spread or concentration of ships in a zone.

There are two resources you’ll be scavenging for, metal and water, which are used to build and upgrade ships. Be sure to suck every last drop of water and scrap of metal on each level, as you’ll be taking it with you as well as your surviving ships to the next level after you’ve successfully met the mission parameters . You’ll also be spending it to meta upgrade between levels.

There is a full campaign that is broken into areas that open as you play, including a “resupply” area that can be farmed.

I haven’t hit the upper limit of fleet numbers yet (why waste the resources?) but as far as ships, there are; probes, fighters, miners, cruisers, science and repair pods plus half a dozen or so satellites, including a science station that upgrades units, so there really isn’t all that much in terms of options, but the game is more about managing the resources and not necessarily spamming your enemies, though that is also an option. Everything that survives can be recruited for the next level, so keeping ships alive is fairly important.

Controls are the only real issue, if I’m gonna point anything out, that and a few Quality of Life things like being able to save during a mission, or that there is no game speed adjustment added so locusing a zone becomes a chore mid game. But even with these small issue (which hopefully gets an update) I’m still very much surprised by how much there is for the small price point. I would say this is a cool and mostly realized game that plays well, looks great and has some interesting solutions to some usually difficult mechanics. I’m hoping the Dev stays active and offers new content (squadron formations or long range bomber units perhaps?) and perhaps tightens the already clever mechanics.

Solid RTS!
