Final Fantasy XIV Director Hopes To Get Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters Working Inside The MMORPG

Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida revealed during a press event at the Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023 that he’s hoping to get the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters running via the MMORPG.

Yoshida-san said that he’s interested in having the Pixel Remasters running in Final Fantasy XIV’s Gold Saucer or player housing, but getting them to actually work in the game has proven difficult.

So because it’s running on a middleware, if you want to implement that into 14, you’d have to build another system that can play back the middleware inside the game. So it’s like you’re building a system of a game to play a system of a game and it’s just this weird configuration.

Elsewhere, Yoshida also touched based on a possible crossover between Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI, suggesting more info on that could come later this year.
