Life is Strange Has Achieved 20 Million Players

Today Don’t Nod Entertainment announced that the adventure game Life is Strange has achieved a new player count milestone.

According to the announcement made on X (formerly Twitter), the original game has passed 20 million players.

That’s certainly a massive achievement for a title that certainly appeared rather niche when it was originally announced at Gamescom 2014.

Life is Strange - Max and Chloe on a Car

The game was originally released in 2015 in episodic form, with the story split into 5 episodes. It used to be a cross-generation game for PC, PS3, PS4, XboX 360, and Xbox One and we can easily say that it’s the title that put Don’t Nod Entertainment on everyone’s radar.

It was then released at retail in 2016 and ported to iOS and Android between 2017 and 2018. The game’s success was cemented in 2022 with the launch of the Remastered Collection on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch.

It tells the story of a girl named Max who returns to Arcadia Bay to attend the local school.  There she reunites with her childhood friend Chloe and develops the ability to rewind time.

The series was continued between 2018 and 2019 with five more episodes forming Life is Strange 2, which focused on a new cast of characters.

It was further expanded in 2021 with Life Is Strange: True Colors, which wasn’t developed by Don’t Nod, but was instead created by Deck Nine.

Speaking of Don’t Nod, the studio recently released Jusant and Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, while its next game Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (published by Focus Entertainment) was supposed to release this month, but has recently been delayed to February next year.
