Quantum Break Will Be Removed From Xbox Game Pass, but It’s Only Temporary

Developer Remedy Entertainment has responded to the report indicating that its action-adventure game Quantum Break will be removed from Xbox Game Pass.

While it’s true that the game will soon become unavailable to subscribers of Microsoft’s service, it’s only temporary. According to the announcement made on Twitter, the removal is due to expired licenses that are in the process of being renewed. The developer promises to let us know when it’ll come back down the line.

If you’re unfamiliar with Quantum Break, it’s an action-adventure third-person shooter developed by Remedy Entertainment in collaboration with Microsoft, which owns the IP. You could say that it was part of the initial “TV, TV, TV” push Microsoft had in mind for the Xbox One, as it was a cross-media production including a game directed by Sam Lake and a TV show. It also starred the late Lance Reddick.

It was released in 2016 following a substantial delay, and it was praised for its storytelling and the interesting time-bending and shooting mechanics. The possibility of a sequel has been teased multiple times, but for now, nothing concrete has materialized. We’ll have to wait and see about that. At the moment, Remedy is busying itself with the development of Alan Wake 3.

The game is currently available for Xbox One and PC, including Steam. If you’d like to learn more, you can read our review.
